Receive a lump-sum maternity benefit
A maternity benefit is a one-time payment provided to the parents of a newborn child. This benefit compensates for the salary (income) lost due to temporary incapacity for work during pregnancy and childbirth leave. Maternity benefit is paid by the employer for working women, and by the state for non-working women.
Employed mothers must apply to their employer to receive the one-time maternity benefit.
Unemployed mothers must visit any territorial center of the Unified Social Service to receive the maternity benefit from the state.
Required documents
To receive the maternity benefit, the following documents must be submitted with the application:
- Passport or identification card
- Public services number (social card number; not mandatory if an identification card is available)
- State certificate of maternity care (it will be provided at the serving hospital)
- Temporary incapacity for work certificate
- Bank account number
Support amount
The maternity benefit for non-working women is 172,500 AMD.
Delivery time and procedure
- Maternity benefit for non-working mothers is paid in cash.
- The benefit is granted if the application is submitted within 140 days of the right to pregnancy and childbirth leave.
- Maternity benefit is provided within 1 month after the application.
- In case of premature birth, a lump-sum benefit is also provided in cases where the child was born dead or died after birth.
Self-employed mothers have different conditions for receiving lump-sum maternity benefits
If you are a self-employed mother, you must visit any regional center of the Unified Social Service (use the browser's translation tool to view the English version) to receive a lump-sum maternity benefit.
