Receive support when returning to Armenia

The program aims at providing Armenian citizens returning to Armenia with necessary information and temporary accommodation.

You can apply for this service by visiting the office in person.
Who can apply?
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia
Delivery duration
Up to 8 working days

To receive the support, an Armenian citizen who has returned to Armenia (or, in the case of a family, any adult family member) must submit the application and required documents to the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia (address: 14 Tairov St., Yerevan).

About the program

The program consists of two components: the first component provides informational support and guidance based on the person’s needs, while the second component provides temporary accommodation.

The first component applies equally to both Armenian citizens forced to return to Armenia and the ones who returned to Armenia on a voluntary basis. The second component is primarily intended for citizens forced to return to Armenia, including:

  • citizens of Armenia expelled or deported from foreign countries,
  • persons returned within the framework of readmission agreements.

Requirements

Support for temporary accommodation (second component) is available to Armenian citizens who:

  • were forced to return to Armenia after having lived abroad for at least 1 year,
  • apply to the program within 3 months after returning, and
  • do not own residential property in Armenia.

Voluntarily returned Armenian citizens may also apply for support under the second component if they meet the above-mentioned conditions and belong to at least one of the following vulnerable groups:

  • large families (with 4 or more children),
  • persons with disabilities.

Required documents

To receive support, the following documents must be submitted:

  • application,
  • identity documents of the applicant and family members (if available),
  • return certificate,
  • court or administrative decisions regarding expulsion or deportation,
  • additional documents that provide information about the duration of stay abroad, date of return to Armenia, disability status, large family status, etc.

Delivery period and procedure

  • Within 3 working days, the service specialist in charge assesses the needs of the applicant based on the submitted documents and registers them in the relevant social protection or accommodation system.
  • Within the next 2 working days, the specialist prepares the applicant’s personal file and attaches all documents confirming their status.
  • Within 3 days after the file is completed, the applicant is directed to the appropriate institution.
