Receive Narcological Medical Care

Within the framework of this program, continuous (dispensary) monitoring is organized as part of the narcological medical care and services provided free of charge and under other conditions guaranteed by the state.

RA citizens and foreigners
Application duration
15-20 minutes

To receive narcological medical aid, it is necessary to visit the following medical institutions:

In Yerevan:

  • "National Center for Addiction Treatment" CJSC of the Ministry of Health (Address: Acharyan St., 2nd Dead End, Building 2; Tel.: +374 10 617090).

 In the Regions:

  • "Gyumri Mental Health Center" CJSC (Shirak Marz, Gyumri, Karsi Highway, Building 2a)
  • "Lori Regional Psycho-Neurological Dispensary" CJSC (Lori Marz, Vanadzor, Garegin Nzhdeh St., Building 57)
  • "Syunik Regional Neuropsychiatric Dispensary" CJSC (Syunik Marz, Kapan, Baghabeldi St., Building 48)
  • "Sevan Mental Health Center" CJSC (Gegharkunik Marz, Sevan, Karmir Banaki St., Building 68)

In those regions of the Republic where there are no corresponding dispensaries, the services are provided through the psychiatric or narcological offices of the regional polyclinics.


About the program

Within the framework of this program, the free medical care and service include the following scopes of organizing free dispensary monitoring for patients:

  • Voluntary Dispensary Monitoring
  • Compulsory Dispensary Monitoring
  • Voluntary Outpatient Treatment
  • Compulsory Outpatient Treatment
  • Voluntary Maintenance Treatment
  • Compulsory Maintenance Treatment
  • Voluntary Substitution Treatment: For persons included in the list of socially vulnerable and special groups, as well as for patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
  • Conduction of laboratory and instrumental diagnostic investigations as indicated.
  • Conduction of forensic narcological examination.
  • Examination for sobriety (state of intoxication).
  • Toxicological examination to detect psychoactive substances in the human biological environment.

Organization and implementation of dispensary monitoring on paid conditions can be carried out in the absence of a document confirming RA citizenship, and includes:

  • Voluntary Substitution Treatment (for persons not included in the list of socially vulnerable and special groups).
  • Conduction of laboratory and instrumental diagnostic investigations and provision of a certificate regarding the absence of narcological diseases.
  • Provision of a certificate regarding registration in medical institutions providing narcological medical care and services.
  • Conduction of laboratory and instrumental diagnostic investigations in case of an unspecified diagnosis.
  • Consultation for individuals with nicotine dependence.

Free and inpatient narcological medical care and services include:

  • Voluntary Treatment
  • Compulsory Treatment
  • Forensic Medical Examination
  • Medical Examination of Conscription-Age Individuals
  • Narcological investigation for the purpose of clarifying the diagnosis in inpatient settings.

Required Documents

The following documents are necessary for a patient's planned hospitalization:

  • RA citizen's passport or ID card.
  • Social Services Number (SSN)
  • Referral issued by the family physician or therapist based on a consultation by the physician providing narcological medical care and services.

Presenting documents is not mandatory during hospitalization for conditions requiring emergency medical care.

To continue treatment free of charge after the state requiring emergency medical care and services has passed, the patient must present:

  • RA citizen's passport.
  • Social Services Number (SSN).
  • his/her written consent.

If an individual does not present documents confirming RA citizenship, voluntary outpatient treatment and voluntary maintenance treatment are carried out on a paid basis. In this case, the patient's name, surname, patronymic, age, and place of residence are filled in the adult outpatient medical card based on the patient's or contact person's verbal information, while designating the patient as non-identified.

Payment Amount and Procedure

The amount and procedure for payment for paid services operating within the framework of the support program are regulated by the medical institution.

Delivery period and Procedure

In cases requiring emergency medical care and services, patients are hospitalized 24 hours a day. However, alcohol intoxication is not considered an emergency condition. In all other cases, the service is provided during working days and hours.
