Register a Car

After purchasing, importing, or modifying a vehicle, it is necessary to apply to the Road Police to officially register its ownership rights.

To register the vehicle, it is necessary to apply in person by booking a visit in advance.

Legal entities can register a maximum of 3 vehicles during a single visit.

After clicking the "Book a Visit" button, it is necessary to:

  • click the "Login" button in the "Registration and Examination Services" window and fill in the Public Services Number (the 10-digit number on the back of the identification card or the social security card number) and telephone number,

  • select the service option: "Registration, account management, re-registration of vehicles of physical entities, including sales",

  • a modified vehicle must be inspected before registration, so in this case, it is necessary to select the option "requiring inspection",

  • specify the preferred Registration and Examination Division (RED), regardless of where the applicant is registered in the Republic of Armenia,

  • select the date and time of registration,

  • enter the email address,

  • click the "Book Ticket" button.

After booking the visit, a code will be sent to the email address, which will allow activating the queue on-site.

Attention

Persons with 1st and 2nd degree disabilities who are parties to the transaction are served out of order at REDs upon presenting a document confirming their status.

Requirements

The following can apply for vehicle registration:

  • RA citizens,

  • temporary or permanent residency holders,

  • individuals registered at an address in the Republic of Armenia.

Required Documents

When registering a vehicle, it is necessary to present:

  • an identification document in the following order:

    • RA citizens: passport or identification card,

    • foreign nationals: passport and a document confirming legal residence in the Republic of Armenia (residency card, address registration),

    • stateless persons: travel document,

    • refugees: convention travel document,

  • a document confirming the legality of the vehicle acquisition, if its ownership right is not registered with the Road Police.

When registering ownership of the vehicle at the same time, it is also necessary to present:

  • transit or other registration license plates, if available,

  • receipts for taxes and fees established by law,

  • a certificate on the complete fulfillment of property tax obligations.

Fee Amount and Procedure

For vehicle registration, it is necessary to pay 23,000 AMD at local operating banks or in advance, which includes:

  • 5,000 AMD for registration (payment account number: 900005002853),

  • 6,000 AMD for the registration certificate (payment account number: 900005016135),

  • 12,000 AMD for license plates (payment account number: 900005016127).

If a transfer cannot be made to the specified account numbers in a banking application, select the "Transfer to the State Budget" option.

In case of making online payments, the payment receipts must be submitted to the service hall employee along with other documents.

Provision Period and Procedure

The registration transaction is carried out on-site as a result of the examination of relevant documents by the RED employee. In some cases, there is not even a need to present the vehicle to the RED.

The transaction takes 15–45 minutes, depending on the number of people waiting in line.
